Lady Lions Win The Gold Bracket in Aiken TournamentWSC opens with 3 wins at Aiken beating Salkehatchie, Spartanberg Methodist and Alabama Southern. They followed that up with a win against Young Harris College of Georgia to finish pool play undefeated. Saturday afternoon, the Lady Lions started bracket play against Georgia Perimeter with a 3-0 shut out. During that game Kelsey Dennis got the win and also set a new career strike out record at Wallace state surpassing the old mark of 366 Ks set by Holli Hill now at Central Arkansas. Kelsey got 10 Ks to propel her to 369 with a long season still ahead of her. On Sunday the Lions improved their play with a big win over Young Harris from Georgia. The Lions scored 3 in the third and then added 4 in the 4th to secure a 7-1 victory that propelled them to the championship game against Middle Georgia. In the final game their bats stayed hot stroking 14 hits and scoring 8 runs. Stephanie Needham topped the day with a 2 run HR and a single and a double producing 3 more runs going 3 for 3 with 5 RBIs. Kristen Skinner got the win in 5 innings striking out 6 and giving up just one hit. The Lions are off to Panama City for a tournament in Frank Brown Park. |
