Coaches Clinic Hosted and run by Wallace State
Wallace State coaches and softball team wil conduct their annual coaches clinic on November 8th, 2008 at Bobby McCracken Stadium from 9-4. The coaches will discuss and demonstrate their drills, skills and techniques to help you the coach be better equipped to instruct today's softball player. The Wallace team we be on hand to run the practice and drills every step of the way so each coach can see live demonstrations of the WSCC practice scheme.
The cost of this clinic is $50 which includes your lunch and you can register by sending in your form and a check made payable to Wallace State Softball or register at 8:30 am on the day of the clinic. Download the form here.
This clinic is open to all coaches at all levels from recreation league to high school and travel ball coaches.

Wallace State Softball Number One Academically
The National Champion softball team just earned the number one spot as All-Academic Team.
The team finshed with a 3.56 GPA to place them in the top position for junior colleges as annouced by the NJCAA. Wallace State also placed three as Distiguished Academic All-America's with a 3.80 GPA or above who have completed at least 3 semesters of college with 45 credit hours or more,
Jennifer Sexton (4.00),
Jena Franks (3.86), and
Lacy Kerr (3.86).
Dandi Ammons (3.65) was selected as an Academic All-American having a GPA greater than 3.60.
Wallace State President and Dean's List Scholar Athletes
The President’s List and Dean’s List at Wallace State include 12 from the National Champion softball team. To earn a spot on the Wallace State President’s List, students must maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester while taking a course load of at least 12 hours. Placement on the Dean’s List is awarded to students maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher.

NFCA All-Americans
The NJCAA Division I Champions Wallace State-Hanceville, led the way with five overall selections, two on the first team, one on the second team and two on the third team. The first team selections included pitcher Jennifer Sexton and third baseman Rachel Baucom. Second team was pitcher Holli Hill and third team selections were catcher Dandi Ammons and shortstop Hannah Strength.

The NJCAA Division I Champions Wallace State-Hanceville, led the way with five All-Region selections, all on the first team. That group included pitcher Jennifer Sexton, pitcher Holli Hill, catcher Dandi Ammons, third baseman Rachel Baucom and shortstop Hannah Strength

Sexton - Baucom make First Team All-American!
Jennifer Sexton was selected to the first team NJCAA All-American team for her efforts in the circle this season. She is joined by first-team All-American infielder Rachel Baucom.
Jennifer finished the season with 31-3 record while Rachel had a team leading .442 batting average with 12 home runs. Sexton will be playing at the University of North Alabama next season while Baucom will be attending either Central Arkansas or Delta State University. Congratulations on a job well done.
2008 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
The Wallace State Lady Lions bring home the championship with their first ever National Title beating the number 1 ranked and seeded Santa Fe Saints from Gainesville Florida. The Lions went undefeated in the tournament winning 5 straight games. The tournament started with a win Thursday morning at 11 am over 13th seeded Western Nebraska and won the game 4-1. Later that evening, the Lions beat San Jacinto TX 5-2 to stay undefeated in the winners bracket. Friday at 1 the Lady Lions faced the 16th seeded Spartenburg Methodist from South Carolina who earlier beat the number one seed Santa Fe Saints. The Lions proved to be to much for Spartenburg and beat them 6-4. That set up the Friday night game between the only two undefeated teams left in the tournament. The number 4 seed Wallace State would face the number 2 seed Chattanooga State from Chattanooga TN. The Lions would find a way to win pulling out an exciting win in the bottom of the 7th winning 4-3.
The championship game came down to WSCC and Santa Fe coming all the way back through the losers bracket. The team work and strong hitting led the Lady Lions to a 5-2 victory capturing their first ever National Championship in College softball. Box scores for all the games are found on the stats page.
Dandi Ammons, Holli Hill, Amanda Rogers and Jennifer Sexton were all named to the all tournament team with Sexton being named the tournament MVP.
Lady Lions Repeat as State and Region 22 Champions
The Lady Lions went through the ACCC state softball tournament undefeated with 4 straight wins to claim a spot at the national tournament next week in Plant City Florida. The Lions defeated Faulkner State 2-0 to open the tournament which was rain delayed one day and started on Sunday. Next they ran into a tough Jeff State but prevailed with a another shut-out winning 4-0. The Lions faced Central Alabama and continued their winning ways winning 3-1. Then in the championship game, Wallace State defeated Wallace-Dothan 4-1 and will represent the ACCC in Plant City 15-17 May 2008. This is the first time that the Lady Lions have repeated as ACCC champions as they are riding a 36 game win streak. Rachel Baucom was named tournament MVP and Dandi Ammons, Jennifer Sexton and Holli Hill were all named to the All tournament team.
